Ricardo Brey

The Cuban-born visual artist Ricardo Brey (Havana, 1955) graduated from the school of art San Alejandro and National School of Art. Since 1991 he has been living and working in Ghent, Belgium. Among other recognitions he had received the Prize from the Flemish Ministry of Culture, and a Guggenheim Fellowship for Installation Art and Sculpture. From 2002 onward Brey committed himself to two major projects “Universe†and “Annex†in which aspects, forms and mediums present in his works since the beginning join his most recent ideas, visions and approaches to art and contemporary reality. In 2005 Brey was selected as Artist of Reference by the Cera foundation within the project Partners in Art.
