Archive

Since the spring of 2021, Studio Ricardo Brey, in collaboration with the CKV (Flemish Centre for Art Archives), has been dedicated to a comprehensive project focused on preserving, organizing, and making the Studio’s archives more accessible to the public. Rather than a traditional archive, we’ve chosen to create a dynamic, living “Library,” one that informs the artworks in a three-dimensional way.
This initiative centers on cataloging and safeguarding the extensive collection of work and historical materials produced by the artist, ensuring that these valuable records are meticulously preserved, expanded, and made available for future generations.
In addition to archiving, the project integrates research and educational components through partnerships with institutions such as CKV, MHKA (Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp), and several Belgian universities. As part of this initiative, the UGent internship program provides students with hands-on experience in art conservation, research, and archival practices. This collaborative effort not only supports the preservation of Ricardo Brey’s artistic legacy but also furthers the educational missions of these institutions, offering scholars, students, and the public enhanced access to these important cultural resources.
